Fishing

Fishing

Fishing in LAngfjorden

Langfjorden is full of fish just waiting for you! Cod, haddock, and pollock are the most common, but if you are lucky, you might catch a salmon! It is a memorable experience to catch your own dinner, so we recommend this strongly. We can provide some fishing equipment if you do not bring your own.

Fishing from the Pier

Fishing from the pier is free of charge and we reccommend you to try it. If you do not have the fishing equipment you can borrow it from the reception.

Fishing in Bognelva

It is possible to fish in the nearby Bognelva, where there currently is a lot of fish - mainly trout. To be allowed to fish, you must have a fishing license issued by Langfjordbotn Jeger- og fiskeforening.

Hiking

Hiking

Hiking around altafjord camping

Tractorpath

From the barn on Altafjord Camping, there is a tractor road up along the mountain. Follow the tractor road up the hill and enjoy the Norwegian nature. This path is good for beginners, and there are opportunities to pick flowers, blueberries and cloudberries. If you go all the way to the top, you can see a fantastic view of Langfjordbotn!

Bubbelen

One of the most beautiful trails is the one that goes from “Bognelvdalen” up towards “Bubbelen”. Bubbelen is an underground river that comes gushing up from the ground. This is a special natural phenomenon! The trip lasts approximately 15-20 minutes before you reach Bubbelen. The paths is relatively easy to follow, but there are some sections with steep slopes. The water at Bubbelen is natural and fresh drinking water.

Mountain hiking

Altafjord Camping is a short traveling distance from a number of mountains and hiking trails with different degrees of difficulty that suit everyone. Feel free to ask at the reception for tips!

Langfjordbotn

Langfjordbotn

Grocery store, snarkjøp handel

The Jøkelfjord Glacier is a part of the larger Øksfjord Glacier which is the ninth-largest glacier in Norway. In addition, the Jøkelfjord Glacier is the only glacier on the European mainland where parts of the glacier break off and become small icebergs that float in the ocean. The Jøkelfjord Glacier lies about 15 minutes drive from Altafjord Camping.

Langfjordbotn is proud of our local grocery store, which is open every day from 08:00 to midnight. Here you can find what you need in terms of groceries, as well ass a cozy coffee-corner with waffles and sausages. The shop is just a short walking distance from Altafjord Camping!

“Porten til Finnmark” coffee bar and farm food, is a cozy café, with a close location to the campsite. It is recommended to check out their Facebook profile for opening hours.

“Parken Gård Husky” is a nice family business that runs dog sledding and farming. For more information visit: http://www.parkengaard-husky.no/

At the campsite you will find Nassers Kebab, which has a variety of food. We recommend enjoying a kebab in Langfjordbotn before traveling on.
